Academic Misconduct and Progress Panels

From 1 October 2026, the Standing Academic Committee (SAC) is replaced by two University panels:

  • The Academic Misconduct Panel (AMP) considers cases of suspected academic misconduct referred to it under the University’s academic integrity procedures.

  • The Academic Progress Concerns Panel (APCP) considers concerns about a student’s academic progress or engagement with their studies.

Each case is considered individually in accordance with the relevant University regulations in the Manual of Academic Regulations and Procedures (MARP).

If your case is referred to a panel

You will be told what the concerns are and how to provide a statement and supporting evidence. If you are invited to a hearing, you will have an opportunity to explain your circumstances to the panel. Your referral correspondence will explain the arrangements for the hearing and how to seek support.

The possible outcomes depend on the type of referral and the circumstances of the case. You will receive the panel’s decision in writing, together with information about how to request a review if you disagree with the outcome.
