A 10-week Mandarin Chinese language course for students, staff and general public from week beginning 20 April 2026.

For learners with no prior knowledge of Mandarin. Participants will learn basic phonetics and tones and use about 200 words around the following topics: greetings, countries, nationalities, occupations and family members.

To make progress during the course you will need to allocate at least 3 hours per week for revision of each class and learning characters.

Time: Mondays, 12.15-1.45pm (in-person) or Tuesdays, 6.15-7.45pm (online)

Location: Lancaster University Confucius Institute (Mondays) or online (Tuesdays)

Registration:

A 10-week Mandarin Chinese language course for students, staff and general public from 22 April to 24 June 2026.

For those who have learned around 200 Chinese words. Participants will learn a further 200 words around various topics (people's appearances, addresses, contact numbers, birthdays and invitations).

To make progress during the course you will need to allocate at least 3 hours per week for revision of each class and learning characters.

A 10-week Mandarin Chinese language course for students, staff and general public from 21 April to 23 June 2026.

For those who have learned around 400 Chinese words. The course will cover a variety of topics such as time, shopping and directions.

To make progress during the course you will need to allocate at least 3 hours per week for revision of each class and learning characters.

A 10-week Mandarin Chinese language course for students, staff and general public from 22 April to 24 June 2026.

The Improver course will use Discover China book 2. During the summer term, the course will begin from unit 4, according to the participants previous knowledge.

To make progress during the course you will need to allocate at least 3 hours per week for revision of each class and learning characters.
